Durability: Fun: Educational: At this point, I'm just throwing my voice in with the others, if only to underscore how completely ineffective these crayons are at their purpose. Does Crayola even have a product testing department? With actual children?? My newly 1-year-old daughter received these as a Christmas present, and I'm so glad I didn't spend my own money on them!! My daughter did all the things the other posters' kids did. In addition to that, the crayons were so soft that my 4-year-old was able to smash them flat very easily. I'm not a choke hazard worrier but if I were, the crayons that come out so easily are definitely a choking hazard, as they are about 1/2 inch wide, and 2 inches long (maybe a 'swallowing hazard' would be more appropriate, since they are THAT SMALL). Even if you were able to get your child to use them, once the tip is gone, the toy is useless, since there's no way to get the rest of the crayon to sit higher. That's just wasteful to me. My solution was the same as the other posters, I went and bought the 16-pack of big fat crayons for my daughter, and we're much better off.
