Durability: Fun: Educational: This pack really has just two units: Iskra/Rechets and Marcu. Iskra and her pet unique squad have no value unless played together for a total of 100 points, but Hasbro did the right thing and packaged them together instead of making you chase down two boosters. You start the game with Iskra on the board and the Rechets on the sidelines. Each turn, Iskra moves, attacks, and tries to summon her three monsters. After a successful cast, you plunk them down within a generous radius of her, then immediately move and attack with them without needing to use an order marker. Since both Iskra and the Rechets can fly, it is possible for them to hit a target extremely far away from where she starts her turn. Not only that, but their Lethal Sting power has a chance to instantly kill a small or medium figure every time they attack. This power comes with a high price, though: not only can Iskra's untimely destruction strand the Rechets off the board for the duration of the game, but she has the potential to squander valuable turns if her order markers are not carefully controlled. Marcu, a 20-point filler hero, also comes with a great drawback: the possibility that he will fall under an enemy's control for a turn. This also wastes one of your order markers, in additon to the damage he can cause. He's often worth the gamble, though-- his 4 attack dice, self-healing, and ability to fly make him a better combatant than many characters four or five times his cost. Certainly, neither is a rock-solid foundation to build an army on, but both have a high fun factor and should see their share of play. Comment | Permalink | (Report this)
